I finally have the old Leaf functional. I was having focusing problems so regular maintenance (cleaning and lube) was performed. This didn't solve the focusing errors so with info obtained from the Yahoo Leafscan group I found the problem. Seems like the CCD and lens stage rollers deteriorate over time, turning into a gummy mess. The rollers where removed, cleaned up and the old roller material was replaced with 1/4 in ID vacuum tube sections. No more focusing problems... Preliminary scans of 35mm chromes, 6x6 and 6x7 chromes and B&W negs look great. I don't have film holders so I've used a piece of Starphire plate glass for a wet mount system. I notice a bit of blooming on some 35mm scans so I need to make a black mask to overlay the mounted neg/slide. So far so good...
